BOM Business Grant

Rebrand

We want to see your vision. What emotions do you want to evoke when people think about your business? What colors will they see? How will they remember you?

Pivot

Plans are not great unless executed properly. Life happens, we get it. How do you intend to take this as a learning opportunity and pivot in a new direction?

Innovate

You began your business to achieve financial freedom. You honed in on your skills and brought your vision to life. Show us how you intend to continually innovate while staying true to yourself and your intentions.

2020 Black Owned Maine Business Grant

Please read the entire page.

Black Owned Maine would like to announce our August 2020 Business Grant. We are changing it up this month. Instead of only focusing on businesses going through hard times due to COVID-19, we are focusing on businesses that wish to rebrand, pivot, or innovate. Explain your plans and allow us to aid in your transformation. The BOM Business Grant will offer two weeks of free ad space on our website, a post on our social media accounts, and a one-time payment of $800 to a business that meets the following qualifications.

Requirements:

  1. A business at least 50% owned by a person of the African Diaspora
  2. Primarily, or exclusively, doing business in Maine
  3. A business with a clear plan for a re-branding, pivoting, or innovation strategy. You do not need to know all the fine details but we do want to see where your creative vision lies.

The deadline to apply is September 5th. We will select a winner and send a check by September 12th.

*All applicants must be currently listed in our directory, or have filled out an application to be listed. Please double check to make sure you are not already on our directory before submitting another form. The BOM directory submission form can be found at www.blackownedmaine.com/add-directory-listing

BOM Family Grant

African Diaspora

Our family grant is open to any family who identifies as a member of the African diaspora. This includes anyone who was born in Africa, or ancestors were born in Africa.

Maine

We are a local organization and aim to support our local communities.

COVID-19

Until further notice, our family grant will specifically prioritize families facing adversity due to the pandemic.

Black Owned Maine would like to announce our August 2020 Family Grant. This month’s grant will be similar to the July grant. We are specifically looking to hear from families in our community who are facing adversities due to COVID-19. The BOM Family Grant will make a one-time payment, up to $300, directly to CMP, Spectrum, Unitil, your landlord, or any other essential household utility. We are able to offer two family grants per month.

Requirements:

  1. Be full-time residents of Maine
  2. Be a family, of at least two, who are of the African diaspora
  3. Show financial need due to COVID-19

The deadline to apply is September 5th. We will select winners and send a check by September 12th.

I had to make my own living and my own opportunity. But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them.”
